The
SLGA AGM took place yesterday January 28th at the
Dewars Centre in
Perth and was attended by Captain
Sandie Streets, Vice-Captain
Sheila Adams and Secretary
Fiona Collier along with several other Ayrshire County members.
The outgoing SLGA president
Emma Wilson opened the meeting by paying tribute to Moira Milton, Liz Miskimmin and Moira Thomson who had all passed away in the last year and a minutes silence was observed in their memory.
The SLGA Chairman, Ayrshire's
Shona Malcolm, gave a synopsis of her Annual Report which was followed by the Financial Director
Lynne Terry's detailed revue of the accounts.
Lorna Bennett, the Scottish representative on the Executive Council of the LGU then gave her annual report.
Margaret MacNaughton was elected as the new President and the 12 Vice-Presidents (including Ayrshire's
Nancy Chisholm) were all re-elected.
ALCGA's
Isabel Crawford was elected to the board in charge of training replacing Beth Paterson who has retired after 4 years.
Lynne Terry steps down as Finance Director (after 10 years service) as will Company Secretary
Sheila Hartley who retires in February.
Lynne Terry and
Jean McEwan were re-appointed as the Scottish representatives on
CONGU.
Two new Scottish Selectors were appointed -
Noreen Fenton (East) and
Addi Shamash (South).
Anne Laing (West) and
Cara Gruber (North) remain as selectors for a second year.
Isabel Crawford was re-appointed as the Scottish Representative on the International Selection Committee of the LGU and her deputy is
Fiona de Vries.
There was no further discussion on the amalgamation with the SGU as a new Amalgamation Chairman has just been appointed so further talks will now be resumed.
AOB The use of Distance Measuring Devices was brought up. The SLGA are still following the R&A advice, however, Shona Malcolm did state that with so many Clubs and Organisations allowing their use she was sure that this would possibly have to change - heres hoping!!
